These Junior Exams are for summative assessment of the new curriculum aligned to the new reporting requirements for Year 9 and Year 10.
They will be available from July 27th (mid Term 3) for use in Term 4.
A year level Junior Pack will cover the spread of the (new) curriculum, with questions a mix of skills and applications.
We include marking schemes and suggested judgement criteria for describing students as Emerging/Developing/Consolidating/Proficient/Exceeding. It will enable reporting by individual strand or overall.
Sample questions for the Year 10 Number strand are below.
A Junior Pack will not include separate revision resources of questions and answers, as we see these tests as largely summative for an end-of-year process.
Junior Packs for Intermediate years might be offered in future years, depending on demand.
The Junior Packs will be offered for $70 each.
The Year 10 exam will be split into six strands. It can easily be broken into parts to accommodate shorter assessment windows (if you don't have a 2-hour exam time to use) as follows.

This sample contains questions for Year 10 Number from the new Phase 4 curriculum.
There will also be a resource sheet, mostly for the Measurement and Geomtry strands, similar to the resource for NCEA Level 1 91947 (1.4 Demonstrate Mathematical Reasoning).
If your school also wants to report using NCEA-style Achieved/Merit/Excellence, the 2-mark questions could be used as Merit(r) and 3-mark questions as Excellence(t).
We have suggested percentages that could be used to roughly align a mark in a section, and a mark overall, with the progress descriptors. These are a suggested starting point, and schools are not bound to these.
